We are pleased to announce that the Online Trade Tariff Developer Portal is now live.
What is the Developer Portal?
The Developer Portal allows you to access the Online Trade Tariff APIs. These offer structured, reliable access to official trade tariff information, including commodity codes, duty rates, VAT, quotas and trade measures.
Why sign up to the Developer Portal?
The Developer Portal allows you to:
- access official trade tariff data from HMRC
- create and manage your API keys for Trade Tariff APIs
- explore, test and integrate tariff data directly from HMRC
- manage organisational details
- invite new members and remove existing members
- get access to future APIs and developer features as they become available
Who can use the Developer Portal?
Anyone who needs access to UK Trade Tariff data, including:
- Software developers building customs or logistics integrations
- Product managers overseeing compliance systems
- Trade and customs specialists seeking accurate, up-to-date information
Whether you are a large enterprise or an independent trader, the APIs provide consistent and authoritative data from HMRC’s Online Trade Tariff.
When do I need to sign up for the Developer Portal?
Registering on the Developer Portal and getting started on your migration plan as soon as possible will ensure your service receives continued data flow and support.
You will continue to be able to access the Trade Tariff API without going through our Developer Portal but in Q4 2026 we will implement further rate limiting on unauthenticated traffic.
